Dr Steve Holmes
Steve has been a GP for more than 30 years and still maintains 5 clinical sessions per week. He has been a member of the RCGP Council for the last decade, and has been an approved GP trainer for much of his career. Steve is a previous chair and current education lead for the Primary Care Respiratory Society - having been involved in a variety of national respiratory initiatives over the last 20 years, Steve has more than 200 publications to his name.
He remains passionate about good quality patient-centered care - having been involved in communication skills training for health care professionals, working especially with COPD and asthma as well as palliative care and mental health issues. He is currently a clinical respiratory lead for Somerset CCG, a member of the NHS England Cardiovascular and Respiratory Steering Committee and a co-lead for the Primary Care Respiratory Academy (linked to PCRS and Cogora). He tries to maintain interests in food, travel, running (gentle) as well as annual attendance at the local Glastonbury music festival. He attempts to play the guitar and piano - though not too well!
